Gold Karat Guide

Karat is the proportion of pure gold in the alloy. Pure gold is 24K and too soft to hold a shape, so it's mixed with harder metals to make something you can actually wear.

10K - 41.7% gold. The hardest of the three and the most affordable. A subtle hue of gold. If the piece will take daily knocks, this holds its edges best.

14K - 58.5% gold. Richer colour than 10K, still hard enough for everyday wear. Our community will often upgrade to 14K for special milestones and weddings.

18K - 75% gold. The deepest colour and the highest value. Softer, so it marks more readily, but it will increase the most in value over time so can be considered more of an investment piece.

Our pick is 10K. It's the best balance between quality, affordability and durability - and it's what most of our gold pieces are made in. If colour depth matters more to you than hardness, go up.
